Electronic Invoicing in Belgium is part of the broader context of the European Union countries’ adherence to the introduction of e-invoices.
For B2B, the obligation is in force from 1st January 2026, both for receiving and sending, while in B2G it has been active since 2017. The paths provided are Peppol-BIS or others but always compliant with the European semantic and syntactic standards EN 16931-1 and CEN/TS 16931-2. There is no obligation to have an electronic signature, while as regards digital storage in accordance with the law, it is set at 10 years.
